1. Open an image.
2. Press Ctrl+J to duplicate the layer.
3. Desaturate this new layer (Go to Image > Adjust > Desaturate ).
4. Rename the layer Desaturated.
5. Duplicate the layer named Desaturated.
6. Invert this new layer (Goto Image > Adjust > Invert).
7. The image looks like this
8. Rename this layer Desaturated & Inverted.
9. Change the blending mode of Desaturated & Inverted layer to Color Dodge.
10. With Desaturated & Inverted layer selected, go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur
11. Play around the radius until you find a level you like.(I used a radius of around 1.8 pixels).
12. Now it should look like as a pencil sketch.
13. Press Ctrl+E to merge the 2 top layers titled Desaturated and Desaturated & Inverted.
14. Change the Blend mode of this new top layer to Luminosity.
